Introduction Vadodara also known as Baroda is situated at the bank of Vishwamitri river. Vadodara is located in southeast of Ahmedabad. Vadodara is famous for its palaces, parks, temples and museums. The greatest period in the Maratha rule of Baroda started with the accession of Maharaja Sayajirao III in 1875. It was an era of great progress and constructive achievements in all fields. Vrindavan Garden, Ajwa Situated at a distance of 23 kms. from Vadodara. Ajwa is an ideal place for weekend picnic. Sayaji Sarovar, which has been a major source of water supply for Vadodara is situated here. E.M.E. Temple Situated in the cantonment near Fatehgunj is the beautiful Shiva temple. Managed and maintained by the "Jawans" of E.M.E., this temple is made of alluminium and some alloys. Unlike all other temples, this beautiful Shiva temple is made of alluminium and it is a place of religious harmony. Kirti Mandir Kirti Mandir is situated on the north of the statue of Prince Fatehsinhrao Gaekwad near the Vishwamitri Bridge. With a cluster of shiva temples it was built to commemorate the cremation of the members of the Gaekwad family. Kutubuddin Maquabara About a kilometer from the Pratapnagar Railway Crossing near Pratapnagar overbridge is a mausoleum of Kutubuddin, the Governor of Gujarat deputed by Akbar the Great. Laheripura Gate Located to the east of the district court Nyayamandir is the picturesque Laheripura gate. It is the western gateway to the old Vadodara city - a fortified part of the city. The gate was erected in the 16th century by Khalilkhan. Laxmivilas Palace Laxmi Vilas Palace is one of the finest buildings in Vadodara built in the indo-Sarcenic style of architecture by Maharaja Sayaji Roa III for his residence. The construction of this Palace which commenced in 1878 A.D. was completed in 1890. Maharaja Fatehsingh Museum The museum was established in 1961.The museum is run by a private trust & is noted for its modern display. How To Reach Air Vadodara airport has daily and weekly connections to Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad. The airport is 6km from the city and auto rickshaws and taxis are available outside the airport. Road Vadodara is very well connected by road to various parts of India . State government run buses ply to the neighbouring states of Maharashtra , Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Rail Vadodara lies on the main broad gauge railway lines between Mumbai-Ahmedabad and Mumbai-Delhi, so there are several trains to choose from including the two superfast Shatabdi Express trains to Ahmedabad and Mumbai and the Rajdhani Express to Delhi.
